  7. Generator/MacOS is a Sega Genesis/Megadrive emulator for the Macintosh.

Generator features fairly good compatibility with Genesis software - the main exception being that Generator does not, at this time, feature FM sound. The only game I've come across that plays any sound at all is Sonic the Hedgehog 1 (pictured), which just generates a few odd bleeps. Generator can open ROMs compressed with Gzip without expanding them first. In addition, it can open both .SMD and .BIN formats.

Generator was initially developed by James Ponder for Unix and RISC-OS. Ports to other platforms are now available. The full source code to the original version is available at the Generator home page. Source code for the Macintosh version is not available at this time, although this *may* change in the future. (Do NOT e-mail me about this!).
